Keller Grundbau GmbH
Keller Grundbau GmbH belongs to the Keller Group plc, which is listed on the London stock exchange. The company specializes in geotechnical engineering.
Our services include ground surveying, ground improvement and excavation work. We operate in eight different market segments combining methods and products to always find the best geotechnical solution.
In many cases, the best and most cost-efficient solution involve a combination of several ground-improvement techniques depending on the site conditions.
Role in project
SAMSON contracted us for the construction of 2,500 CFA piles to create deep foundations for the buildings at the new SAMSON site in Offenbach. Continuous flight auger (CFA) piles are constructed by rotating a hollow-stem continuous-flight auger into the soil to a designated depth. Concrete or grout is pumped through the hollow stem to fill the cylindrical cavity created as the auger is slowly removed. The reinforcement cage is placed through the freshly placed concrete. These piles transfer loads from the structure (e.g. hall supports) to the ground, which help support it.
The contract work also involves geotechnical calculations, survey work, checking for unexploded bombs and the installation of steel sheet piling.

Werner Hartwig GmbH
Werner Hartwig GmbH is an engineering company founded in 1962. It specializes in wastewater management and construction of roads and special structures. It has many years of experience in all service phases according to the official German regulations governing the fees for services by architects and engineers (abbreviated to HOAI in German). It offers consultation services in all the service phases. It also specializes in survey work and coordination services for health and safety measures at construction sites (abbreviated to SiGeKo in German). Numerous private investors as well as more than 150 public local authorities figure among its customers. This opens up the way for synergies and has a beneficial effect on future projects.
The company is run across the generations by two engineers Björn Hartwig and Robert Pücko. They are members of the Chambers of Engineers in the German federal states of Hesse and Rheinland-Palatinate as well as qualified engineering consultants. A team of 25 professionals work together on the engineering projects. The company belongs to the Chambers of Engineers of Hesse and Rheinland-Palatinate, DWA (German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste), DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) and BWK (German Association of Engineers for Water Management, Waste Management and Land Improvement). It is also registered as a pre-qualified company by the German chamber of commerce and industry.
Role in project
Werner Hartwig GmbH is responsible for the planning, tendering and coordination of civil engineering and road construction activities for the MainChange project.
These activities include the laying of around 3,000 m surface and sewage water pipelines and the construction of three rainwater retention basins with upstream pre-treatment installations. The rainwater retention basins with an overall storage volume of around 4,500 m³ are designed to hold back rainwater before it is pumped into the public wastewater network. Furthermore, planning and coordination of the underground construction work for the utilities pipelines (gas, water, district heating, hydrogen, electricity etc.) is underway.
An area of around 37,000 m² for roads, paths and parking lots is also being planned. These planning activities involve the efficient layout of on-site traffic and the optimal connection to the public road network. The goal is to optimize site logistic operations and maximize the site accessibility for staff and visitors.
